Fun times

We (Becky, Beverly & I) made a quick trip down to Eugene to shop & our cousin Karrie met us at REI to say "hi" and spend some time with the kids.  (Reuben is in the front seat).  I can't wait for our family camping trip in August when all the Franklin's will be in one spot!  What fun we will have!!!!

Samuel and Austin in the back seat, Evan was right next to Austin but backwards, so he didn't get in the picture.

Evan and I are going to have some fun with this! I wanted to take advantage of the REI anniversary sale & buy a kid carrier back pack.  I hope we can find enough times to use it.  He should be able to use it for at least the next 2 summers.  It has a sun shade that will fully protect him if we need it, & plenty of space to pack all the essentials.

Austin got his hair cut today by a "new to us" barber in town. We were referred from my Grandpa's friend who we've ran into twice in the last week while shopping.  I really like the cut and will definitely go back.  I also love to support the local businesses and especially if they are old guys.  Mr. Person looked like he should have retired years ago and said he bought this business back in 1967!

recent happenings

This morning I walked out of the front door and found this little friend crawling up our sidewalk. Austin LOVES creepy, crawly, slimy things so he couldn't get out the door fast enough to grab him up.

Happy #8 Birthday Dakota!!

Austin just had to buy Dakota a present and wrap it up for him.  Dakota loves to rip paper & had a great time trying to reach his treasure.  Both boys wanted to help him too.

My garden has begun!  It's a working progress and now has a fence around it to keep little boys from digging in the dirt and a dog who loves to eat my vegetables before I can pick them.  So far only one side is planted, but I have plans for the other once another sunny day comes our way.

Since I always blog about the kids and pets, I guess it is time to mention Chris. He has finally reached the end of his apprenticeship (officially this November, but they are allowed to apply to jobs within the last 6 months).  With as much joy as this brings us, it is bitter sweet in the fact that we will more than likely have to move.  I personally love the valley.  It's long growing season, warmer temperatures and that its close to Portland and the beach.  We've also found a church that we both love and feel at home in.  He can "bid" or apply to jobs that are open now, so we'll see where that takes us.

I'm Knitting

I finished my first knitting project and I must admit it needs some help.  My square dish cloth is more like a stretched out diamond and I think the cross over stitch is wrong. But I guess for my first try it is okay. Grandma Franklin gave me some instruction & 2 books that have patterns.  I need to learn what the different stitches are and how to make them.  I am much better at watching someone else & then doing it than following written instructions, but I'll try my best at the next one.

look at all these beautiful kids & babies and one more to come really soon!

"hello cousin, lets play some more cars"

Evan can fall asleep just about anywhere & at any time

Austin's first catch of the season.  Chris took him to Waverly Lake while I was gone and Austin caught this 10" rainbow trout.

Vegas reunion 2011

Stephanie, Meredith and I took a 3 night/4 day trip to Vegas this past weekend.  We had a great time walking around the strip, shopping, seeing KÀ by Cirque du Soleil, having a spa day and just celebrating our friendships.  We of course started our trip out at PDX with coffee!

Our hotel

Stephanie trying her luck at the slot machine

Meredith in the Wynn.  It was a butterfly themed hotel

There were butterflies at the Venetian too

Meredith in the Conservatory at the Bellagio

our new hats :)

Visit to the M&M store

Rainforest Cafe in the MGM Grand. Austin would have LOVED this place

All dressed up for our last night on the town.

We had our makeup done at Sophoria.  My make up person was an ex Miami drag queen named Marvin. He did a great job and was so entertaining too.

Meredith took many more pictures, so we'll have to share with each other and I'll post more from her camera when I can.
